Puppy Donation
by Sherry Rupke on 08/20/11
A few times a year I donate a puppy to a family or person in need. This would usually be a person with a disability that will take the dog for training and that this dog will really make a difference in there life.
I'm now asking for your help to give me a suggestion where to donate a puppy. Please send any suggestions or nominate a family or person to swissridgekennels@hotmail.com

Update for dog due dates in June and July.
by Sherry Rupke on 06/18/10
This is a list if dogs that are due in the next 2 months. All our puppies are always born at the same time as all the dogs usually come into heat at the same time. June and July will be busy months for us.
Please note: I do get deposits for the pups before they are born so this is a list of dogs that are due however your pup may or may not come out of one of these litters. Sometimes dogs that we have bred don't concieve and they can also have small litters. If you are set on a Swissridge puppy it is best to fill out a adoption form to get approved and then once you are approved you can send a deposit. This will get you on the waiting list.

How are puppies socialized at Swissridge kennels?
by Sherry Rupke on 06/18/10
I've had many people throughout the years ask how we socialize our pups.
When they are born up until they are about 5-6 weeks of age they are in the house with us. They are exposed to many noises and different ojects in the house (vacuum, phone, dishes clanging, ect). They are handled daily by the girls who work for me and myself. Stimulating them and handling them before they open there eyes (before 10-14 days of age) gets them use to the human touch early on.
Once they are about 5-6 weeks old we have a play area for them that measures about 10'x10'. This is the average size play area, some are larger and some are smaller. We decide which litter goes in which play area depending on the size of the litter and the size of the pups (tiny's, mini's or standards). In this area they have many toys and have a lot of room to play with there mother and socialize with there littermates. This is VERY important for your pup to learn doggy socialization skills early on in life. The best bonding time between mother and littermates is between 5-8 weeks and this is the time they learn manners and how to be a dog.
I have 2 girls who work for me so the dogs have people with them all day. One girl grooms the dogs and takes them for pack walks. The other girl does the chores, feeds and cleans the dogs and plays with the pups.
The pups are taken out of there play area's daily and played with outside on the lawn. They are introduced to other dogs, ojects, different noises in the outside environment and things that they would not see or experience if left in a kennel or in a house. We don't take them off the property (to town ect) because this would put them at risk of getting some sort of disease like parvo, ect.
We are dedicated to getting you the healthiest, most well rounded/socialized pup and we don't want to put your new puppy at risk.
Everything we do with them from day one up until they are 8 weeks prepares them for living with a family and children. All of our pups are social and very friendly when they go to there new homes. Email any of my reference if you have questions about how there pup was on the day of pickup and once they got it home.
I hope this artical helps explain how we go about socializing our puppies.
